Exporting stats
Download a site’s stats over any date range as a zip of daily CSV files, laid out as Plausible’s export is.
Plausible imports the files, and so do Pirsch, Tinylytics and other tools that read Plausible’s. Only the people a site is shared with can export it, even when its stats are public.
Exporting a site
In the site’s settings, open Export, choose a range, all time unless you choose another, or two dates,
and choose Download. The zip holds every day of them, in the site’s time zone, and is named for the site and
the day you export it, such as example_com_20261019.zip. It’s always the whole site, never
filtered.
A range that holds too much to export at once asks you to choose a shorter one. Each account can export five times a minute.
What is in it
Eleven CSV files, each with a row for every day and value counted, and none for a day with nothing. Each
file’s name ends with the range, such as imported_pages_20260901_20260930.csv.
| File | A row for |
|---|---|
imported_visitors | Each day’s visitors, pageviews, visits, bounces and seconds on screen |
imported_sources | A source, with its referrer and campaign tags |
imported_pages | A page, with its scroll depth and time on screen |
imported_entry_pages | The page a visit began on |
imported_exit_pages | The page a visit ended on |
imported_locations | A country |
imported_devices | A device |
imported_browsers | A browser |
imported_operating_systems | An operating system |
imported_custom_events | An event goal, outbound links, file downloads or pages not found |
imported_custom_props | A custom property’s value, or a goal’s event data |
How the figures are written
- Visitors are visitor-days, each counted once a day. Added up over several days, someone who came on three of them counts three times.
- Sources, pages entered and left, countries, devices, browsers and systems count visits once they end, 30 minutes after the last thing they did, so today has only the visits that have ended. The day’s bounces and time on screen are counted the same way.
- A page’s visits and visitors are those that began on it, as on the dashboard, and at least 1 each, as someone saw it.
- Every row has at least 1 visitor, as someone was counted on it and Plausible hides a row with none. A goal’s visitors are the visits that reached it; links, downloads and pages not found have 1 each, as fivebar counts only their clicks and page loads.
- Direct traffic has an empty source, which Plausible shows as Direct / None.
- Paths are written as the dashboard shows them.
- What fivebar doesn’t keep is empty: regions, and browser and system versions. So is
utm_source, which fivebar counts as the source. - Cities are 0, as Plausible keeps a city as a GeoNames number and fivebar keeps its name. Visits from
Tor, and from places fivebar couldn’t tell, are left out of
imported_locations. - Hidden goals are left out, as on the dashboard. Show a goal again to export it.
Importing elsewhere
In Plausible, open the site’s settings, then Imports & Exports, choose Import from CSV, and add
the files from the zip. Plausible imports a range of 3 days or more, only up to the day it began counting the
site, and leaves out imported_custom_props. It takes at most five imports a site, so a history
exported in shorter ranges must fit in five. Pirsch takes the zip as it is.
An app connected over MCP reads the same figures, but can’t export them.
